Reflecting on Teaching in a Classroom that is not your own...

As you all know I am not currently teaching so the lessson plan was definitely a struggle for me.  I felt very restricted in several aspects including the topic, what could be done in the lesson and classroom management skills.  I started my lesson I expected that the one advantage I would have is that I was a new face and the students would give me more respect and attention than what I had observed between the students and the cooperating teacher.  Unfortunately I was in for a surprise and had to quickly adapt to the classroom.
I know that this lesson was focused on 21st century literacies and I covered them to the best of my ability  in the situation; and had I had my own classroom this lesson would have been a lot different and incorporated more 21st century literacy skills.  With that said I feel that there is something more that I believe I got out of this experience and it related to my philosophy of education.  The overall belief in my philosophy is that a teacher must know her students; that  includes but not limited to their learning styles and background. This lesson further assured me that knowing the students is the key to a successful classroom. If you know the students you can prepare for their actions and reactions to activities (this includes responses); you will also have a stronger classroom management skill set if you know the students and they know you and what is expected of them.

Multimedia Project

I chose to use a tool that I was not familiar with to create my multimedia project.   We focused on many subjects this semester that I could have addressed in my project but I decided why not present on a blog and how it can be useful in the classroom, afterall we have done a lot of blogging this semester! :)

I used Prezi to complete my multimeida project.  I is a creative new idea of presenting instead of the same old PowerPoint. My multimedia project informs the view on what blog is, how blogs can be used in the classroom and step-by-step instructions on creating a blog using blogger.com.  This presentation meets the requirments of 21st century literacies by including words, pictures, voice and video.
